5 Limiting Beliefs That Keep You from Attacking Your Goals

Everyone has dreams, but not everyone makes their dreams into goals. You may have a few of these too. What are the reasons you tell yourself late at night to put the shutdown on making them a reality? These reasons are beliefs that you have, but that doesn’t mean they are valid reasons.

  1. Not Enough Time

Everyone is busy these days. When someone asks how you are doing, you probably respond with “Busy.” But that might not be the truth. Everyone has the same twenty-four hours in the day. For a week or maybe two, keep a time ladder of how you spent your time. This includes sleeping, preparing and eating meals, social media, getting ready for work, cleaning your house. Take a good look at how your time is spent, and you might realize you have more time than you realize.

2. I Don’t Have ‘X’ Talent

It doesn’t matter if you want to write a book or paint a picture, you have as much talent as you are willing to work for. You may not have been born with the natural ability to paint, it doesn’t mean you can’t learn and practice.

3. After ‘X’ I Will Do It

“Once I get through this (insert tough project at work), I will start training for that marathon.” “After I lose twenty pounds, I will take a salsa dancing class.” Why are you waiting? Maybe that marathon training will help you work through the stress of that project at work. Perhaps salsa dancing lessons will allow you realize that no matter your weight, your body is worthy of fun and sexy movement. If you have a goal, go for it now.

4. I’m Not Good Enough

What ruler are you using to measure your “good enough”? You are always good enough to go after your own dreams and goals. If this is an internal dialogue, then you need to work on liking and loving yourself first. If this belief is coming from external sources, then consider those sources and if they are holding you back.

5. ‘X’ Person Has it Easier

The grass is greener where you water it. Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. There are many sayings that sum up that you really don’t know what someone else is going through. So, do not assume that someone has it easier, and therefore can achieve their goals while you cannot. That person may think you have it easier or better.

Self-limiting beliefs can be a slippery slope. They can also keep you from even trying to reach your goals. Take time to examine your reasoning and come up with better beliefs to counter the negative ones.

In my next post I will share 5 Ways To Get Anything You Want.  Stay tuned 🙂

Aha!… there’s a mentor for that! 🤪

Among many of us who may strive for success and achievement in life, we tend to fall into two distinct categories, or types.
The first look at something they don’t know and call it a roadblock; whatever their goal, this is where they stop cold and go no further forward. This roadblock is called continuous learning and feels like a mental hurdle that has become physical in their path.
The other kind sees this roadblock and recognizes their need to educate themselves further by teacher, mentor or coach. This category or type are able to stride on and learn to jump when needed to progress forward and get to their goal finish line.
People who embrace this clear requirement for learning are the ones who succeed.
So:
👉Don’t listen to quitters, instead put your focus on the people who have already traveled the path you’re on and made it where they were trying to go.
👉Look for mentors, not excuses to give up.
👉Find teachers, not people willing to commiserate over how hard it is.
👉Learn from coaches how to time the jump and make the landing so you keep momentum going forward in your lane to success.
All of this starts with a mindset of learning. You don’t even need to be stumbling to begin building a mind ready for success. You start with every class you take, every book you pick up, every bit of knowledge you gain. If you do it right, you might never hit those roadblocks at all.
I just hired a mentor, yet again, and I am over the moon!
You see, a few years ago, I realized that I didn’t have to know it all, I didn’t have to OR shouldn’t have to attempt to be the smartest person in the room and I didn’t have to reinvent the wheel. I could still be successful if I remember to embrace mentors and coaches along my path to what my vision is and get to the finish line. With this I would actually accelerate my success ether in business, finances, heath, relationships or elsewhere.
In essence and in effect, I hired the coach; got my training shoes laced tight, and we’re hitting the track together. Here is to your success and we’ll be waiting for you at the finish line, cheering you on to victory. 💪🎯🏆

Why Be Normal?

When was it we all got the idea that we needed to be just like everybody else?

Somewhere, somehow, the idea of standing out became scary. The problem is, it’s impossible to be a dreamer when you’re doing what everyone else is. Big goals require thinking outside the box. You need to stand out if you expect to stand up and do great things.

So who cares when someone tells you your goal makes you a little weird? There’s innovation to be found in eccentricity. Creative sorts never fit comfortably in predetermined molds. The best part? By being an original who dares to try something new, you’re setting an example to those around you, and giving them permission to do the same. Win-win all the way around!

Your Authentic Life

‘Nothing is easier than to play at ambiguity and nothing is more difficult than living ambiguity.’ – Carl Jung

I was invited to a podcast not that long ago and the host asked me if I live my life authentically. I paused for a moment and then cheerfully answered ‘yes, absolutely’.

This question definitely brought me back in time as I remembered how I struggled with this in the past and how much work I’ve put in to be who I am today.

How I learnt to let go of living the way that others thought I should and, instead, live my life as the real ME.

Learning to live your life authentically is a process. Usually, not an easy one, that requires you to REALLY work on yourself.

Your journey starts with getting to know who you really are. Clarify your beliefs and values. Discovering your true passions. Developing a healthy self-concept and finally accepting and loving the person you find inside.

By living authentically, you can simplify your life, reduce stress, strengthen your relationships, build a more satisfying career, and increase your happiness and fulfillment in life.

Here is how:

Use these questions on a daily basis to ensure you are living an authentic life.

  1. Did I do anything yesterday that was not authentic? If so, why?

2. What actions will I take today to show my authentic self?

3.What opportunities for authenticity will I encounter today?

4. What situations will I encounter that will tempt me to NOT be authentic? How will I handle those situations?

5. What are my passions? How will I follow those passions today?

6. What self-esteem building actions will I take today?

7. How will I love myself today?

8. How will I avoid comparing myself to others today?

9. What do I need to affirm about myself today?

10. What good things will happen if I live authentically today?

Every morning, take 5-10 minutes to review and reflect upon these questions. You can take a mental inventory or spend a few minutes journaling your answers. You will be amazed at the clarity it provides you and the beautiful authenticity it brings into your life 🙂
